Let’s strengthen our immune system

The immune capacity of our body depends on a good consumption of minerals and vitamins.
A lack of these two substances can seriously compromise the normal function of our immune system. The vitamins C,E and A and minerals like Zinc and Selenium are antioxidant nutrients which neutralize the free radicals and weaken the infectious agents.
The Vitamin C, which is undoubtedly the most important, has many functions: it helps the reproduction the immune cells, it reinforces the antibodies and it has an antiviral action.
The experts suggest:
To eat a lot of fruits and especially: melons, oranges and kiwis
To eat a lot of vegetables and especially: carrots, lettuce, red and yellow peppers, tomatoes, beets and potatoes
To eat legumes, wholemeal cereals and fish
To moderate the consumption of meat ( it is important to eat a right quantity of proteins, but not a high quantity of saturated fats of animal origin which lower the immune defences and obstruct the lymphatic vessels)

In the thirties, the heart attack was so rare that only a specialist could diagnose it, despite its unmistakable symptoms ( strong chest pain, cool sweats, nausea, a drop in arterial pressure and weak pulse). By the passing of the years, the Research Institutes have found out the causes of heart attack and how preventing it, even if the research is still
going on.
One of the reason for heart attack is the lack of vitamin C and this may cause the increase of triglycerides (fats in blood), cholesterol LDL (bad type), apoprotein and lipoprotein A and a drop of the cholesterol HDL (good type).
The first step to prevent and make regress heart diseases is to eat a right quantity of vitamin C. The expert suggest:
To eat regularly many fresh fruits and vegetables
To avoid fried food
To contain the consumption of meat and food which have saturated fats
To reduce the quantity of salt while cooking
To avoid going on a diet too rich in calories
To avoid stress
To avoid smoking
To check periodically blood pressure and the quantity of lipids in blood.

Our skin has got the epidermis ( superficial layer) and the derma (deep layer). The epidermis is made of collagen which represents the structure of the skin and gives it resistance. The quantity of collagen depends on the presence of the vitamin C in our body and as a consequence on our nutrition.
By the passing of the time, the elasticity of collagen and of elastin fibres diminishes due to the harmful action of free radicals. The vitamins and some minerals like selenium hinder this harmful action through their antioxidant activity. A lack of vitamin A can make skin dry and rough, for example. A right nutrition is the basis for bettering our skin health.
Dry skin
- Possible causes:
lack of vitamin A or water due to a very low presence of essential fats acids.
- Suggested nutrition:
To eat a lot of food rich in water like fresh fruits and vegetables, to drink water ( at least 1lt a day), to eat few saturated fats ( cheese and meat).
Fat skin
- Possible causes:
Consumption of many fats
- Suggested nutrition:
To eat food poor in fats and sugar; to drink few alcohol.
Rough skin
- Possible causes:
Lack of vitamin A, of essential fat acids and water.
- Suggested nutrition:
To eat fresh fruits and vegetables (specially of yellow, orange and red colour and rich in beta-carotene), to drink water and to eat essential fat acids present in seeds and oil.
Swelling of the face and water retention
- Possible causes:
Hormonal imbalance, food allergy
- Suggested nutrition:
To eat fresh fruits and vegetables, to drink water and to eat essential fat acids present in seeds and oil. It is suggested to check food allergy ( such as allergy to wheat and milk).
Cellulite
- Possible causes:
Hormonal imbalance, many fat toxins which put out of action the adipose cells.
- Suggested nutrition:
To drink much water, to eat many apples, carrots, fresh fruits and vegetables which strengthen the immune system and detoxify our body. To eat few cheese and meat.
